Handmade Picture Frames

These are my most recent creations; two hand carved, hand gilded picture frames.  It's my intention to create corner samples of these, and see if there is a market for them.  There is a tremendous amount of time involved, so they may be rather pricey.  We'll see...  I certainly enjoyed creating them.  They seem to represent a synthesis of my most practical skills, picture framing and woodworking.

This is the second frame I carved, but the first one I gilded.  I'm pleased with the results, and I learned alot about gilding.
Here's a detail shot of one of the corners.
This one was much more difficult to carve. I ran out of gold, so I finished the cassetta with a crossgrain veneer.
Here's a close-up.
